How organizations use personal information
- Organizations can only use or disclose personal information for the purposes stated in their privacy policy.
- Organizations can use personal information if they have authorization from the individual.
- Organizations can use personal information if they believe it’s necessary to assist law enforcement or national security.
- Organizations can use personal information if they believe it’s necessary to enforce legal rights or protect safety.

The Office of the Privacy Commissioner has a tool called Priv-o-matic that can help organizations create basic privacy statements.
